I know myself as someone who was brought up in two homes in a poor part of Sheffield, South Yorkshire the importance of support, community and media representation of ‘families’ is.

Especially, when your family/friends/community of people doesn’t fit the stereotype.

Whilst I had lots of love as a child in my homes (my parents were separated), I received a lot of stigma as my mum’s family is mixed race or dual heritage (English and Chinese) and my Dad is Gay so I was brought up my my dad and my step dad in one house and my mum and my other step dad in the other house.

Back then, having separated parents was a big thing not to mention all the other unique qualities of my “diverse family.”
