Alpamare and Scarborough Spa: A day of British Seaside fun

Days Out, Reviews

Sipping cocktails on the seafront, swimming in an infinity pool and lying down immersed in hot bubbles whilst your face feels the breeze.
You’d think my family and I were somewhere exotic when in fact we’d gone for a day trip to Scarborough.
And whilst the car had to sail through the floods to get us to Alpamare, Scarborough’s newly built water park, it was well worth the slow journey from Wakefield.

The in and outdoor water park was heaving with people enjoying the slides, wave pool and outdoor area.
My girls aged, 2 and 5, loved the shallow kids water area and mini slide although as they were under 6 they couldn’t go on the bigger slides.
Luckily for me, I had my step dad on hand so I got to try out most of the slides which were fast and fun.
But my favourite part was chilling outside in the infinity pool overlooking the sea.
Food and drink were on tap too and you just pay with the wristband you get on entry to the park.
I couldn’t help but feel the holiday vibe and I could imagine that at night it would be an amazing place to have a pool party – who needs Las Vegas when you’ve got Scarbs?
What’s more is that soon they’re opening a large spa area, all I need now is a holiday club or willing grandparents to look after the kids!
Alpamare is ideally located on the north bay just 600m from Peasholme Park and Scarborough’s Open Air theatre.
After a brilliant afternoon at the water park we then made our way over to the South Bay to finish off our day at the Scarborough Spa.
We’d been invited to watch Magic Mike, a child-friendly magician, in his last show of the season.
And it really did make us feel like we were on holiday.

It was good old British seaside fun. The show took place, despite the bad weather, upstairs in the Ocean Room.
We all sat behind tables as we enjoyed cups of tea and chips whilst watching the interactive performance.
What more could you ask for?
The girls loved it too as there hadn’t been restrained in the usual theatre style seating and instead they could run around.
